H a z a r d A n a l y s i s C r i t i c a l C o n t r o l P o i n t HACCP 08 09 1. STRATEGIC ANALYSIS AND MEASURES The company shall disclose whether or not it is pursuing a sustainability strategy. It shall describe what concrete measures it is taking in order to operate in compliance with the key, approved, sector-specific national and international standards. As various measures for the sustainable development of our company have already been implemented over the past few years, we have decided to systematically pursue this aspect further. In the financial year 2017, we therefore developed a sustainability strategy with the support of an external sustainability consulting firm in order to systematically integrate and continually implement social and ecological sustainability in our core business. The analyses we thereby conducted revealed the following risks for sustainable development: · Due to food scandals and lack of transparency, there has been growing criticism of the food sector from the public, the media and customers. · The lack of skilled personnel is increasing and making it more difficult to recruit staff. · Requirements regarding staff at their workplace are changing. · Employees are suffering burdens on their health, not only due to shift work in production, but also due to increasing age. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT Strategy · The legal stipulations on environmental effects, on emissions and on adherence to limit values are becoming stricter. · Our operation means we are an energy intensive company with high CO 2 emissions. · Our customers base is increasingly requesting proof of our environmental and social sustainability. At the same time, we have identified multiple opportunities resulting from sustainable development: · We fulfil high environmental and social standards through producing our baked goods in Germany, at our own production sites in Bocholt and Drossdorf. · Our products consistently meet the highest quality standards. We demonstrate product transparency and win the trust of our customers and end consumers. · Our sustainability strategy makes us more attractive to new, skilled personnel and we are better able to retain our staff. · We proactively and systematically promote the health of our staff. · We are voluntarily and systematically improving our environmental impact, over and above the legal stipulations. This produces positive results – not only environmentally but also economically, due to longterm cost reductions. · The delivery chain is becoming progressively more transparent with regard to environmental and social sustainability. Standards: We work with sector standards, as well as national and international standards. IFS-Food Zertifizierung: Both production sites in Bocholt and Drossdorf are certified in accordance with IFS Food 6.1. As a food manufacturer, we regularly take part in the independent audit conducted by International Featured Standards Food. Sinnack Backspezialitäten & Co. KG was the first bakery enterprise in Germany to receive IFS certification. IFS Food is a standard recognised by the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) for auditing food manufacturers. The focuses are food safety and the quality of the processes and products. The list of requirements includes: · Corporate responsibility · Systems for quality and food safety management · Resource management · Production processes · Measurements, analyses, improvements · Food defence (protecting the food chain against terrorist acts). For further details on the IFS Food standards please see https://www.ifs-certification.com/index.php/de/standards/ 23-ifs-food-de BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative): A basic precondition for listing all suppliers, including new suppliers, is that they must provide information about themselves as well as sign a quality assurance agreement, in which the supplier commits themselves to the sustaina- bility criteria of the international sustainability standard of the BSCI. The BSCI is an economic initiative for companies that are actively engaged in improving working conditions in the global supplier chain. The BSCI code of conduct is based on various international contracts for protecting employee rights. Food regulations: In addition, as a food manufacturer our company fulfils stringent legal requirements, particularly the German Food Hygiene Regulations (LMHV) and the German Food Information Regulation (LMIV). We safeguard our product quality by means of a comprehensive HACCP System (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and constant product monitoring.
